Your rights for delays, cancellations and overbooking
EU Regulation EC 261/2004 protects passengers departing from an EU airport, or arriving in the EU on an EU airline.
Delay
From 3 hours of arrival delay, you may be entitled to fixed compensation.
Cancellation
Unless notified at least 14 days ahead or due to extraordinary circumstances, cancellation entitles you to compensation.
Overbooking
Involuntary denied boarding is compensated, regardless of delay.
EC 261/2004 compensation scale
The amount depends on the flight distance:
250 €
€250 — flights up to 1,500 km
400 €
€400 — flights of 1,500 to 3,500 km, and all intra-EU flights over 1,500 km
600 €
€600 — flights over 3,500 km
A 50% reduction may apply to long-haul flights (> 3,500 km, outside the EU) with an arrival delay between 3 and 4 hours.
